Nala was a recent runner-up in a competition that we sponsored. So we got in touch to see if he’d like to do an interview with us – and we were delighted that he agreed. So, read on to find out more.
When did you join Instagram and why?
I joined Instagram about 3.5 years ago…because I loved taking pictures with my iPhone.
What equipment do you use to shoot?
I was only taking iphone shots until I reached 230,000 followers. Then I bought my first DSLR Canon 6D as a gift to myself for reaching the 200K mark! That was 2 years ago. Then, when I lost my Canon 6D, I bought a Canon 5D but sadly that was broken by big wave on the beach! Now I am using a Canon 7D mark ii. The only other items of equipment I use are Gopro Hero 3+ & iPhone 5s.
What do you use to edit your photos?
What is your favourite shot that you’ve published on Instagram?

How do you promote your work?
I never think to promote it. I am the kind of person that only follows my heart, doing what I feel is right.
To what do you attribute your success on Instagram?
I didn’t think I was popular until recently, but on this stage it’s made me confident that my taste and skill in photography have almost reached a professional photography level.
What do you do for a living outside of Instagram?
I make TV shows.
What advice would you give to Instagram newbies?
